1 arrested after shooting near Springs Rescue Mission

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A man went to a Colorado Springs homeless shelter for help after he was shot early Monday morning.

The victim told Springs Rescue Mission he was shot in the woods near the building. Police were called to the shelter, and the man was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

Investigators found the shooting scene at a transient camp just west of Springs Rescue Mission. After talking to witnesses, detectives arrested 30-year-old Keyn Nesmith on multiple felony charges, including first-degree assault and possession of weapons by a previous offender.

The victim is expected to survive.

Springs Rescue Mission is located just south of downtown.
