Man reportedly threatens people with a machete at a Colorado park, Tased by police

ALAMOSA, Colo. (KKTV) - A man reportedly threatened people at a Colorado park with a machete before police were able to subdue him with a Taser.

The incident happened on Thursday at about 11:11 in the morning. The Alamosa Police Department is reporting they received a call regarding a man threatening people near Boyd Park. Multiple parents reached out to 11 News stating their children were at the park on a field trip when the incident happened.

Police say when they arrived on the scene, the man was waving the weapon around. Officers deployed a Taser to subdue him. The suspect was taken to the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

No one else was injured during the incident.

The suspect is expected to face charges including felony menacing and three counts of attempted first-degree assault on a police officer.

The suspect has not been identified.

11 News has reached out to the elementary school and is waiting to hear back.

Alamosa is on the south side of the state about 120 miles southwest of Pueblo.
