Man in custody after assaulting officer in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Police say one man is in custody after throwing an officer to the ground Thursday afternoon.

Around 6:30 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance call near 3300 North Hancock Avenue.

Police say no one was charged in regards to that disturbance.

However, they found out Valentino Berreras, who left just before officers arrived, had a warrant out for his arrest.

After talking to witnesses, police found out where Berreras lived and searched the area for him.

Eventually, officers were able to find Berreras.

When police told him that he was being taken into custody for a previous warrant, Berreras became aggressive.

Barreras even threw one of the officers to the ground, who hit his head on large landscaping rock.

The officer responded quickly, and tased Barreras.

Shortly after that, police were able to take Barreras into custody.

The injured officer was taken to Memorial Hospital, where he was later treated and released.
