A man has succumbed to his injuries and died following a May 13 crash.

Kevin Munch, 43, was first labeled in critical condition from being hit by a car at a busy Colorado Springs intersection just before 11 p.m. About two weeks later on May 26, he passed away.

Witnesses told police Munch was crossing North Academy Boulevard at Austin Bluffs Parkway inside the crosswalk, but on a green light for oncoming traffic. The crash fractured the victim's skull and broke his pelvis.

The roadway was shut down for several hours while officers investigated, but reopened the next morning.

Police told 11 News alcohol and drugs were not suspected on the part of the driver. That driver will not be cited.

Police say this is the 13th traffic-related death this year in Colorado Springs. Last year, there were 11 traffic-related deaths at this time. Munch is the sixth pedestrian to die from a crash in 2017.
