Man bites security guard’s finger, sends him to hospital

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A local security guard was recovering Friday morning following an assault at a downtown business.

According to Colorado Springs police, Nathaniel Phillips was caught trespassing inside a building near Cascade and Pikes Peak avenues around 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

Security asked Phillips to leave, and he complied until he got outside, officers said. That’s when Phillips reportedly started waving a towel to distract the guard and then tried to assault him.

“The security guard took the suspect to ground,” a release from police stated. “The suspect continued to try to assault the security guard and bit the security guard causing serious bodily injury.”

Police said Phillips bit the guard’s finger. Despite the attempts to hurt the security guard, he was able to restrain Phillips until officers got there and arrested him.

The security guard was taken to the hospital and treated. Phillips was taken to the El Paso County Jail. He’s facing an assault charge.
