Man arrested for reportedly threatening road workers in El Paso County

A man was arrested for reportedly threatening road workers in El Paso County with a rifle and then firing multiple shots.

The incident happened on Saturday just after 4 p.m. in the 4200 block of Outpost Road. The neighborhood is just southeast of Cascade and west of Colorado Springs. While a crew was working on a road, Edward Otis Jr. came out at confronted them armed with a chrome-colored assault-style rifle, according to investigators.

The sheriff's office is reporting Otis pointed the rifle at the workers and threatened to shoot. He then fired three rounds into the ground. Otis walked onto his own property and then allegedly fired the gun several more times.

Otis was arrested for felony menacing, prohibited use of a weapon and reckless endangerment.
