COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - One person was injured and a number of vehicles were damaged following a lengthy chase in El Paso County on Wednesday.

The sheriff's office is reporting the Traffic Enforcement Unit was working alongside the Colorado State Patrol in the area of Highway 24 and Ute Pass at 9:50 in the morning when they first noticed the suspect. A vehicle was seen speeding, weaving and cutting across multiple lanes of traffic. Authorities tried to pull the suspect vehicle over, but the driver continued westbound on Ute Pass speeding and hitting a utility trailer being towed by a pick-up truck.

A few minutes later, the driver hit a highway divider causing the vehicle to lose control. The suspect vehicle ended up facing eastbound on the westbound side of Highway 24. The driver sped off again heading westbound on Highway 24. Authorities tried stopping the suspect again, but this time the suspect side-swiped an El Paso County Sheriff's Office unmarked vehicle and then turned around and headed eastbound on Highway 24. Another pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit ended in a two-vehicle accident at eastbound Highway 24 and 31st Street. The suspect crashed into a civilian's vehicle.

The driver then tried running on foot along Fountain Creek. The Colorado Springs Police Department set up containment in the area and utilized a K9 and drone to attempt to locate the driver. After about 45 minutes of searching, the driver was located and taken into custody by the Colorado Springs Police Department.

The driver was identified as Christopher James Allen. He was arrested on multiple outstanding felony warrants and faces additional charges of Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft, Felony Eluding, DUID, multiple counts of Reckless Endangerment, Leaving the Scene of multiple accidents, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Wear a Seatbelt.

One civilian was hurt and taken to the hospital.
