Man arrested after allegedly making gun threats, hiding from police

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A man was arrested Saturday after he allegedly threatened a few men at gunpoint and hid from officers in a Colorado Springs home.

It happened around midnight near the 1700 block of Wildwood Pass Drive.

Police said they received a disturbance call about 33-year-old Corey Lavertue threatening a few people with a handgun. Officers were also told that an unconscious woman and two young children were inside the home.

When police arrived, they found three men who were arguing in a garage.

As the officers began to approach them, the men went into the house and shut all the lights off. Police tried to contact the men with a PA system, but no one responded.

Shortly after that, officers made their way into the home due to the safety of the woman and young children. Police were able to safely escort the woman, two children, and a man out of the house.

The officers began to search the home for Lavertue and found out that a bathroom door was locked. After making their way into the bathroom, police found a crawl space that was also locked.

Police deployed pepper spray into the space, but said Lavertue would not come out. Eventually, officers entered the crawl space and said they were able to find Lavertue, along with another man. Both of them were taken into custody.

Lavertue was later arrested. 11 News is working to learn what charges he will be facing.
