FORT CARSON, Colo. (KKTV) - A number of law enforcement vehicles and fire crews gathered outside the Fort Carson Main Exchange on Wednesday for a shooting that happened at a nearby house.

The first responders were called to the retail store at about 1:20 p.m. 11 News reached out to Fort Carson for more information. The chief of media relations, Brandy Gill, told 11 News there was no danger to the public as of 2:50 p.m. She reiterated this was not an "active shooter" situation after several viewers reached out to 11 News wondering what was going on.

"This is not an active shooter situation, but is the result of an altercation inside a home on post," Gill wrote in a release.

Access to the Main Exchange was "temporarily restricted." One person with non-life threatening injuries was taken to an off-post medical facility. It isn't clear how the person shot ended up at the Exchange.

No other information was provided by Fort Carson as they cited an ongoing investigation.

"No further information will be released to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation," Gill added in the release.
