The deadline is approaching for Colorado Avalanche fans to vote rookie Cale Makar to the 2020 NHL All-Star Game in St. Louis.
Makar is one of 30 players in the NHL's "Last Men In" voting poll, where fans are encouraged to vote online for their favorite player. One skater from each division (Atlantic, Metropolitan, Central, and Pacific) will be selected to the roster to play in the All-Star game Jan. 25.
Makar, a defensemen for the Avalanche, was off to a historic start for a rookie before injuring his upper body and missing nine games in December. In 36 games, Makar has tallied 9 goals and 23 assists, combining for 32 points throughout the season. The Avalanche already have one All-Star headed to St. Louis later in the month. Nathan MacKinnon is making his third All-Star game appearance and will captain the Central team.
In the "Last Men In" poll, Makar faces competition from Chicago's Jonathan Toews (10 G, 22 A), Dallas' Jamie Benn (10 G 11 A), Minnesota's Ryan Suter (6 G, 24 A), Nashville's Matt Duchene (10 G, 20 A), St. Louis' David Perron (19 G, 26 A), and Winnipeg's Patrik Lane (15 G, 26 A).
Voting ends Friday night at 10:00 p.m. Fans can submit up to 10 ballots on the NHL's official website.
