Smoke expected to be visible Tuesday from fire burning on Fort Carson

FORT CARSON, Colo. (KKTV) - Expect to see more smoke in the Fort Carson area Tuesday as a fire continues to burn in a remote area on their training ranges.

As of late Monday afternoon, the fire had burned 300-400 acres.

Fires on Fort Carson are not uncommon and typically occur on training grounds far from the main area on post. It's common for the fires to spark in what has been referred to as "impact areas," which is where the post says soldiers fire their ammunition into

From now until the end of next month, the Mountain Post is doing live-fire exercises.

Noise complaints should be directed to the Fort Carson Public Affairs Office at 719-526-9849.
