Increased security at some District 70 schools following Safe2Tell tip

PUEBLO WEST, Colo. (KKTV) - A handful of District 70 schools have increased security Monday following a Safe2Tell tip regarding a student and weapons.

According to the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office, a single tip was submitted to the tipline website stating there was a possibility of a student bringing weapons onto the Skyview Middle School campus. The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office tells 11 News that based on the investigation, the threat is not credible, but there will be extra security as a precaution.

The district is also increasing security at a few nearby elementary schools. 11 News is working to get the names. Skyview is located near the corner of Camino De Bravo and McCulloch Boulevard.

Safe2Tell tips are anonymous and can be submitted here or by calling 1-877-542-7233. As 11 News reported Friday, during the 2017-2018 school year Safe2Tell received 692 tips about people planning to attack a school in Colorado.
