Authorities track down Colorado Springs murder suspect in Mexico
Authorities were able to track down a man in Mexico wanted for murder out of Colorado Springs.
The U.S. Marshals Service found Edwin Figueroa in Mexico and worked with local officials to arrest him. Figueroa was wanted for allegedly shooting and killing 17-year-old Erbey Enriquez on Jan. 12 in the 400 block of S. Circle Drive.
Figueroa is currently at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
Police are still asking any witnesses to call them at 719-444-7000.
The man who prompted
is the same man accused of fatally shooting someone outside a club hours earlier.
Police found a man badly injured outside Club La Costa just after 1 a.m. The victim was identified on Monday as 17-year-old Erbey Enriquez.
"The Colorado Springs Police Department received information of a fight that later turned into a shooting in the 400 block of South Circle Drive," said CSPD spokesperson Lt. Howard Black.
Enriquez was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries..
Police said the death is being investigated as a homicide.
Hours later, officers executed a warrant in the 6200 block of Riverdale Drive. While there, residents were urged to stay inside their homes with the doors and windows locked.
Police later confirmed they were looking for Edwin Figueroa, the suspect in the club shooting. Figueroa was not found in the home and remains at large as of Monday morning.
