COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Harrison High School was placed on lockdown Wednesday afternoon while police investigated reports of a person with a gun seen near the school.
An officer tells 11 News a person driving by thought they saw someone with a machine gun walking around close to the campus, which is located off of Circle just east of I-25. The report came in at 12:20 p.m. and the school was immediately placed on lockdown while officers searched the area.
Officers never found anyone.
A spokesperson with District 2 says there was never an immediate threat to the school and the lockdown was simply precautionary. All students and faculty were safe.
During a lockdown, students stay in their classrooms and do not move around the building.
