Fort Carson Army sergeant killed

A soldier from Fort Carson was killed in Afghanistan.
Staff Sgt. Christopher Wilbur, 36, of Granite City, Illinois, died Friday. The Department of Defense confirmed his death over the weekend.
The exact cause of his death has not been revealed, but officials say it was not in combat.
Wilbur has been in the Army for more than 11 years and was on his fourth deployment at the time of his death. He deployed twice to Iraq and twice to Afghanistan during his military career.
A decorated soldier, he received many awards during his time with the Army, including two Achievement medals, four Good Conduct medals and four Commendation medals.
Wilbur was assigned to the 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division.
"It is always hard to lose a part of our military family. Our thoughts and prayers are with Staff Sgt. Christopher Wilbur's family and friends during this very difficult time," Fort Carson said in a statement.
