FORT CARSON, Colo. (KKTV) - People living near Fort Carson can expect more noise and aircraft during much of August.

Starting Monday and running through Aug. 17, the Mountain Post is conducting an artillery training exercise. Training includes large-caliber training with live munition and increased aerial operations, and with that -- comes increased noise and dust. The post said this can be expected at all times of day, including after dark.

The public should not hesitate to contact the post if there any complaints or concerns, Fort Carson said.

"Fort Carson is dedicated to being good neighbors and will continue to inform the public about training events that may affect surrounding communities. We will continue to listen to our community and work through any noise issues that may arise. We strive to balance our training requirements with respecting our neighboring communities," the post said in a statement Monday.

Noise complaints can be called in to 719-526-9849.

The training is intended to help prepare the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division for any potential upcoming mission.
