AMERICUS, Ga. (AP) - A spokeswoman says former U.S. President Jimmy Carter has been discharged from a hospital after being treated for a urinary tract infection.

Carter Center spokeswoman Deanna Congileo says the former president was discharged from Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus Wednesday afternoon following a few-day-long stay. Congileo previously said Monday Carter was already feeling better and was looking forward to returning home.

Carter, 95, has overcome several health challenges in recent years. Last month, Carter was released from Emory University Hospital in Atlanta after recovering from surgery to relieve pressure on his brain caused by bleeding from a fall.
