Ex-cheerleading coach sentenced for sexual assault on 13-year-old student
A former cheerleading coach has been sentenced for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl.
Mitchell Greenstreet pleaded guilty to the assault.
Greenstreet was sentenced to 90 days of jail time and 20 years to life of sex offender probation.
Greenstreet was a former coach at Colorado Cheer Academy Allstars.
The victim’s family says as her cheerleading coach, they trusted Greenstreet with their daughter.
The victim still suffers from PTSD and is highly traumatized, her therapist told the judge in court.
The victim's father said his daughter had private lessons with Greenstreet and the assault happened during one of those lessons.
Police say Greenstreet pinned the young teen against a wall and raped her.
Greenstreet said they had consensual sex several times and claimed to think she was older than she was.
The judge noted that on Greenstreet's Facebook he had posted about how unfair the age of consent laws were in Colorado, and it was apparent from investigations that he did in fact know the age of the victim.
Greenstreet apologized in court for the pain he's caused to the family.
