Firefighters working townhouse fire in east Colorado Springs

On Wednesday, crews were working to put out a fire at a townhouse in east Colorado Springs.

Officials say it started around noon at a house near Powers and Palmer Park Boulevard.

11 News has confirmed that the fire started on the deck and spread into the home.

Three people were inside, but were able to make it out safely. They were treated at the scene for inhaling smoke, but were later released.

A neighbor who tried to help the family escape also received the same treatment, and was released as well.

One family has been displaced and Red Cross will be assisting them.

The fire was still active at the time this article was written.

Firefighters tell us they were able to respond quickly and the fire has been contained.

11 News has a crew at the scene, and will continue to give updates as more information becomes available.
