Police are continuing to investigate after a body was found inside a charred RV over the weekend, but tell 11 News there is no indication that foul play was involved in either the fire or the death.
The call initially appeared routine as fires go. Firefighters got the alert in the wee hours of Saturday morning and responded to Garland Avenue on what they were first told was a structure fire. They discovered after getting to the scene it was only an RV parked in front of the home that was on fire and had the fire squashed within minutes. When 11 News first spoke with firefighters, a CSFD lieutenant said there were no injuries to people or pets and minimal damage to the house.
But after it was safe to go inside the RV later Saturday morning, firefighters found a body inside.
It's still not clear if the individual died in the fire or was dead prior to the fire. The El Paso County Coroner's Office told 11 News Monday that it would be several weeks before it had a cause of death.
An identification is expected in about a week.
