Fire burning on Fort Carson training range

FORT CARSON, Colo. (KKTV) - Fort Carson confirms a sizeable fire burning on post, but say it's fully contained.

The fire sparked on one of Fort Carson's training ranges Tuesday and is far from the main area on post. It has burned less than 200 acres. Fires on the post's training ranges are not uncommon.

A spokesperson said because it's far from structures, they are just letting the fire burn itself out. The public can expect to see smoke throughout the day.

Much of southern Colorado is under a red flag warning due to breezy and warm conditions Tuesday. A fire could ignite very easily because of those conditions and how dry it has been. Do not do any outdoor burning while this warning is in effect.
