LITTLETON, Colo. (KKTV) – The final victim injured in the recent shooting at a Denver-area STEM school has been released from the hospital.
The student was one of nine hit by gunfire when two students began shooting up the Highlands Ranch school May 7. Of the nine, one, 18-year-old Kendrick Castillo, lost his life when lunging at the shooters. His classmates have hailed him as a hero, stating more people would have been hurt or killed if Kendrick hadn't acted.
The eight wounded students were taken to various hospitals in Denver. Some were released fairly quickly, while others spent multiple days.
With the last student's release over the weekend, all of the wounded are back home with their families.
