COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Police are searching for a driver who hit a motorcyclist and fled the scene, leaving the critically injured rider alone in the road.

The crash happened just before 7 Monday morning at the intersection of Fillmore and Cascade in front of several witnesses. Police are now hoping someone has information on the whereabouts of the driver.

"When officers arrived on scene, they found an adult male who was critical and unstable," said CSPD spokesperson Lt. Howard Black. "There was an off-duty commander from the El Paso County Sheriff's Department along with an EMT or paramedic from the Colorado Springs Fire Department that immediately got out of their vehicles and started life-saving measures on the victim."

The rider has since been transported to an area hospital, where he is in critical condition.

The intersection of Fillmore and Cascade was closed for more than three hours and reopened just before 10:30 a.m.

The RV was later found abandoned near the crash site. Police continue to look for the driver. There is currently no description of the driver available.

"It's just outrageous. It's outrageous that individuals make those kinds of decisions to leave a crash scene. Especially when you have somebody who is critically injured," Black said.

Call the Colorado Springs Police Department at 719-444-7000 if you have any information that can help locate the RV driver.
