A wild brawl in a suburban Colorado Springs neighborhood ended with one person in custody.

Jonathan Fitzgerald, who was involved in the fight but is not facing charges, tells 11 News the two men clashed after the second man fired a gun in the middle of a residential street near Widefield Community Park.

"I wasn't thinking. I was already angry, I was thinking about the kids. I didn't care at that point. The instinct was to kick his behind because he did that," Fitzgerald said.

Fitzgerald says he was already stewing over an argument he had just had with a neighbor. As he walked home from her house around 5:45 p.m., he saw the man with the gun burst out the front door of a nearby home off Quebec Street and Drury Lane.

"This guy who lives at this house comes running out with a gun and he shot it and there are kids out here. ... So I'm like, 'Dude, don't be shooting guns out here with kids.' So I got pretty angry, so I was going to attack him."

According to Fitzgerald's account, the suspect then aimed the gun at Fitzgerald's head, pulled the trigger, "but nothing came out."

Fitzgerald fought back and the two struggled in the middle of the street until a third man ran over and yanked the gun out of the suspect's hands. Deputies were called and the suspect retreated back into his house. Neighbors say he came back out at deputies' request -- with his mother behind him to make sure he wouldn't be shot.

That man is now facing potential menacing charges.
