EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - A marijuana robbery resulted in two fatalities and two crime scenes across the county Sunday.
The robbery happened on the 11000 block of Highway 94 at a known property linked to the pot black market, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office said, and ended with two people shot. One person died at the scene and the second drove themself o the hospital, where they are in critical condition.
The sheriff's office tweeted that they were looking for a white man in his mid-20s in connection with the shooting.
Investigators have been on scene into the afternoon going through the numerous outbuildings on the property.
Late Sunday morning, Sheriff Bill Elder told media that law enforcement was alerted to several armed men at a property on Loop Road near South Peyton Highway, also with a known connection to the marijuana black market. The sheriff's office was told there was a connection to the fatal robbery.
As SWAT arrived, they were drawn into a shootout with the men in question, ending with a member of the SWAT team injured and a suspect dead.
Elder confirmed the deceased suspect is believed to be the one they were looking at in connection with the Highway 94 robbery. He had not been identified.
The SWAT member is expected to recover.
