Rider in deadly motorcycle crash ID'd
A motorcycle rider is dead after losing control and crashing in southeast Colorado Springs Sunday afternoon.
Police say the rider was traveling east on Hancock Expressway and was going too fast, causing him to lose control of his bike as he approached the intersection with Monica Drive West. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene following life-saving efforts by first responders.
The rider was identified Tuesday as 29-year-old Joshua Sellers of Colorado Springs.
The crash was the eighth deadly crash in Colorado Springs in 2020. Possibly due to the effects of the stay-at-home and Safer at Home orders this year, the number of fatal crashes in 2020 is exactly half of the number of crashes at this same time last year.
