Fake DEA gear ditched in eastern El Paso County

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - The DEA is investigating why there was fake DEA gear and a real gun stuffed in a trash bag and left along Myers Road near Yoder.

The gear was found by a driver headed into Colorado Springs Tuesday. They initially thought it was a tire laying in the middle of the road.

"Then the wife spotted a hat in the rearview mirror, and she was like, 'There is a hat too! Let's go back and look,'" the driver told 11 News.

The hat had "DEA" embroidered on it. The trash bag also contained two masks, two paintball jerseys with DEA stickers attached, a gun, and flashing lights that attach to a car.

"It's very obvious that the stickers on the pretend flat vests were looking to be intimidating and they had a hat that said DEA on it and they had things, black hats to cover their face to look intimidating," the driver said.

The DEA told 11 News the case is under investigation and could not release any more information.
