Expected snow in Colorado closes Trail Ridge Road at Rocky Mountain National Park

ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, Colo. (KKTV) - A road in Colorado is scheduled to close Wednesday night because of expected snow.

Rocky Mountain National Park posted the following to social media:
"Trail Ridge Road will close at 7:30 pm tonight due to weather. Closures could happen sooner, based on conditions. Closures will be at Milner Pass on the west side, about 16 miles from the Grand Lake Entrance, and Rainbow Curve on the east side, about 12 miles from the east side entrances."

Rocky Mountain National Park is northwest of Denver. Trail Ridge Road reaches an elevation higher than 12,000 feet at some points.

The first official day of fall is Sept. 23.
