COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A driver who plowed a minivan onto a porch is facing four years of supervised probation.
John Purcell blew through a stop sign over the summer and smashed into a minivan crossing the intersection with such force, the van was pushed into a power pole before smashing through a fence and coming to rest on a front porch. The four people in the minivan were hurt.
Witnesses told 11 News Purcell was driving "easily 80 to 100 miles per hour," but police did not confirm that speed.
Tuesday, Purcell was sentenced to probation and is prohibited from using alcohol or legal drugs during that time. He is expected to undergo a mental health evaluation on June 5.
