Driver crashes into Dollar Store building

No one was hurt after a driver slammed into a dollar store late Saturday morning.

Police say the woman accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake, so rather than stopping, she accelerated and ran into the front of the store.

The crash happened just after 11 a.m. at the Dollar Tree on 747 W. Garden of the Gods Rd. The impact shattered a couple of storefront windows, but otherwise caused no significant damage.

The driver was cited for careless driving. Our crew who responded to the scene says she appeared to be an elderly woman.
