Arrest made in deadly Colorado Springs nightclub shooting

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - An arrest has been made in a deadly nightclub shooting in Colorado Springs last weekend.

The shooting left a 19-year-old woman and injured two others.

According to officers, the call came in around 1:56 on the morning of Aug. 3 at the Social nightclub in Colorado Springs. That's near North Academy Boulevard and North Carefree Circle. When police arrived at the scene, they found a man and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. Both of the victims were taken to a local hospital. The woman passed away from her injuries, and the man remains in critical condition at last report.

Police said a second man was shot, but did not appear to have life-threatening injuries. He was also treated at a local hospital.

The woman who died was identified as 19-year-old La Jayzia Cannon of Colorado Springs.

The suspect was identified as 23-year-old Gary McCallister Jr., a resident of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He was arrested on Saturday for second-degree murder. Police publicly announced his arrest on Wednesday.

This marks the 15th homicide investigation in Colorado Springs this year.
