Detectives seized more than two dozen guns and $20,000 worth of drugs from a Pueblo storefront on Thursday.

The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office is reporting detectives were patrolling the 600 block of West Northern Avenue when they saw 43-year-old Phillip Key. Key was wanted out of El Paso County. When detectives made contact with Key in what appeared to be a store he rents, they found he had two guns on him, one of which was reported stolen.

Since Key was a wanted felon in possession of weapons, detectives executed a search warrant at the Bessemer storefront. They recovered 23 more guns, five of the firearms seized were reported stolen, two ounces of heroin, nearly a pound of meth, several thousands rounds of ammunition and thousands of dollars in cash.

“Their solid police work and thorough investigation took some dangerous drugs and guns off the streets of Pueblo,” Sheriff Kirk M Taylor said about the detectives who made the bust.

Key was arrested for two counts of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of weapons by a previous offender, possession of a dangerous weapon and a warrant for being a fugitive of justice.
