Deputies search for armed and dangerous suspects after shooting at Security-Widefield home

SECURITY-WIDEFIELD, Colo. (KKTV) - A pair of armed and dangerous men remain on the run after shooting a Security-Widefield homeowner Sunday night.

The suspects rang the victim's doorbell Sunday night and shot him after he refused to let them in.

"The homeowner attempted to prevent them from entering the residence and was subsequently shot," said El Paso County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Natalie Sosa.

Sosa said the shooting happened at a home on the 4800 block of San Amels Way at 8 p.m. The victim was transported to the hospital, and his condition is still unknown as of Monday morning.

Residents nearby were then told to stay in their homes while deputies looked for the gunmen, described only as two black males.

"We sent out a reverse 911 to the surrounding area," Sosa said.

A canine unit assisted deputies in tracking the suspects, who Sosa believed left the home on foot.

In addition to the victim, two children and another adult were in the home at the time of the shooting.

As of Monday morning, the suspects have not been located. Anyone who sees anything suspicious is urged to contact law enforcement immediately.
