Victim identified in COS apartment shooting
Police have a suspect in custody after a teenager was found dead inside an apartment Tuesday afternoon. A warrant for first-degree murder has been issues for the homicide that happened off of S. Murray Blvd.
The victim has been identified as 15-year-old Sir Croix Alexander Armstrong. Armstrong was a resident of Colorado Springs and died from a gunshot wound. CSPD says this is an active homicide investigation.
Officers were called to an apartment complex on the 400 block of South Murray Boulevard on reports of a shooting. Lt. Howard Black with the Colorado Springs Police Department would not confirm the victim was shot, but said he was found with "traumatic injuries."
Black said police have identified the suspect but do not have that person in custody. He did not release any further information about the person they were looking for.
Neighbors said they were frightened that a violent crime happened so close to home, in the middle of the day.
"It's scary, being a father and having a situation like this happened," Alfonso Gonzales said. "We are already looking into other apartments. I just told my wife and my wife called me scared, and she was like, 'Babe, there's a whole bunch of cop cars over here,' and I was like, 'There's nothing I can do,'" Alfonso Gonzales said.
