Officer-involved shooting closes part of I-70 in western Colorado

NEW CASTLE, Colo. (KKTV) - I-70 was closed west of Glenwood Springs for several hours Saturday as authorities investigated an officer-involved shooting.

The shooting happened at about 2 p.m. on Saturday near New Castle, about 160 miles west of Denver. Traffic was being diverted to both Highway 6 and Highway 24 north of I-70 between exits 105 and 109. The interstate reopened Saturday night.

Glenwood Springs paper Post Independent is reporting the suspect was killed. Authorities have not released any information on what led up to the shooting.
