Fort Carson soldier killed in motorcycle crash

SECURITY-WIDEFIELD, Colo. (KKTV) - A Fort Carson soldier was killed when his motorcycle was hit by a Jeep Tuesday evening.

Investigators say the Jeep was southbound on Goldfield Drive near the Big Johnson Reservoir and moved into the intersection with Fontaine Boulevard at the same time the rider was crossing. The two vehicles collided, and the motorcyclist was seriously injured. He later died at the hospital. According to State Patrol, he was wearing a helmet.

The driver of the Jeep was unhurt. She has been identified as 62-year-old Karen Yenglin.

State Patrol identified the motorcycle rider as 42-year-old Patrick Goble.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, but alcohol and speed are not suspected causes, troopers said.
