COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A motorcyclist was killed after missing a curve in the roadway and crashing his bike Monday night.

On Tuesday the motorcyclist was identified as 39-year-old Ehren Shultze of Colorado Springs. Police say it appears Shultze was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Shultze was traveling north on Academy Boulevard and crashed just north of San Miguel.

"As the road curves to the left, he failed to negotiate that turn, struck the left-hand curb, and was ejected from his motorcycle," said Lt. Jim Sokolik with the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Shultze died at the scene.

Sokolik said speed was a likely a factor in the crash, though the investigation was still ongoing.

Monday's crash is the 25th in Colorado Springs this year and the sixth involving a motorcycle.
