COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A fire threatening homes between Colorado Springs and Ellicott burned about 33 acres on Saturday.
The Cimarron Hills Fire Department Tweeted out they were providing help to battle the blaze at about 12:50 p.m. south of Highway 94 near Franceville Coal Mine Road. At one point, there were mandatory evacuations for the blaze.
The fire was extinguished by about 2 p.m.
Officials on scene believe gunfire may have sparked the blaze. There is a nearby shooting range, but the exact cause remains under investigation.
