Coroner confirms 3 dead in Capulin, suspect arrested

Three people were killed in a shooting over the weekend 30 minutes outside Alamosa.

Conejos County deputies said 57-year-old Guadalupe Cervantes and 54-year-old Jose M. Archuleta died at the scene of the shooting Sunday night, while 30-year-old Marissa Herrera died of her injuries at the hospital. 11 News has confirmed with the coroner that a fourth victim, 34-year-old Don Martinez, remains hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the shoulder.

The coroner says the Colorado Bureau of Investigation is investigating the case.

The suspect, 25-year-old Santos Navares, lives in Conejos County and fled the scene after the shooting. Navares, who also uses the last name Ramirez, was booked into jail on three counts of first-degree murder and attempt to commit first-degree murder.

There is no threat to the public. The motive for the shooting is still under investigation.
