Colorado Springs ranked #3 best place to live in U.S.

The City for Champions gets the bronze medal in the list of the best places to live in the U.S.

Colorado Springs moved down to the third spot, trading places with Denver on U.S. News and World Report's annual survey.

The magazine pointed to the city's low cost of living, low unemployment rate, and variety of sports and entertainment options as reasons for the ranking. U.S. News also mentioned the explosive growth the city has experienced in recent years, but says Colorado Springs' cost of living is still comparable to other cities of the same size.

Best places to live according to U.S. News Rankings 2019:

1. Austin, Texas

2. Denver, Colo.

3. Colorado Springs, Colo.

4. Fayetteville, Ark.

5. Des Moines, Iowa

6. Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn.

7. San Francisco, Calif.

8. Portland, Ore.

9. Seattle, Wash.

10. Raleigh & Durham, N.C.

U.S. News says it looks at job market, quality of life, and desirability as factors to determine where each of the 125 cities it evaluates rank.

Colorado Springs ranked second in 2018 behind Austin.
