A child in Colorado nearly died after ingesting a "potentially lethal" amount of marijuana, according to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office.

The child was taken to the hospital on Nov. 30 in critical condition. The child was then flown to Salt Lake City Children's Hospital for emergency care.

On Tuesday, Forrest and Cory Nash were taken into custody. Investigators believe the pair is tied to incidents of child abuse involving five other children ranging in age from 8 to 13 between January and November. Authorities did not elaborate on specifics of the child abuse charges in a press release posted Wednesday. The relationship between the suspects and the children was not released.

Forrest is facing the following charges:

-Child Abuse Knowing or Reckless with Serious Bodily Injury (F3)

-5 Counts of Child Abuse Knowing or Reckless with Injury (M1)

-5 Counts of Child Abuse Knowing or Reckless with No Injury (M2)

-2 Counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor (F4)

-2 Counts of Dispensing Marijuana to a Minor (DF4)

Cory is facing the following charges:

-Child Abuse Knowing or Reckless with Serious Bodily Injury (F3)

-5 Counts of Child Abuse Knowing or Reckless with Injury (M1)

-5 Counts of Child Abuse Knowing or Reckless with No Injury (M2)

-2 Counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor (F4)
