Colorado Springs teen killed in Texas crash, 6 others injured

LAMESA, Texas (KKTV) - A Colorado Springs teen died in a crash on a Texas highway this past weekend that injured six others including four children.

The single-vehicle crash happened on Highway 87 about five miles north of Lamesa Sunday morning. Seven people were in the car at the time of the crash. The driver, a 16-year-old girl, was the only one wearing a seatbelt according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

A 16-year-old boy died in the crash. He was not publicly identified.

Only one of the passengers was publicly identified as 50-year-old Rudy Salazar. Salazar was injured in the crash.

The other passengers included a 10-year-old girl, 8-year-old boy, 11-year-old boy and another 8-year-old boy.

Everyone in the vehicle is from Colorado Springs.
