State Patrol, CSPD on accident alert status as part of COVID -19 response

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Colorado State Patrol and Colorado Springs Police Department are both on accident alert indefinitely in an effort to promote social distancing during the coronavirus outbreak.

Accident alert in these circumstances is no different than in times of inclement weather. If there is a crash where alcohol or drugs are not suspected and there are no injuries, the drivers involved are asked to exchange information, instead of calling police out to the scene. Drivers then have up to 72 hours to pick up a cold crash report from the police department or State Patrol.
