DENVER (KKTV) - While Dec. 15 was the deadline for Colorado residents to buy health insurance if they wanted coverage to kickoff on Jan. 1, Friday, Jan. 12 is the deadline to shop for health insurance on the individual market.
Most Americans have to have health insurance now, or they are forced to pay a penalty. In Colorado, open enrollment ends Friday.
If you don't have health insurance, and you live in Colorado, you may be eligible for Health First Colorado, Colorado's Medicaid program. The program has open enrollment year-round. There are income restrictions to the program, but the Connect for Health Colorado marketplace may be able to help you another way.
After Jan. 12 you won’t be able to get financial assistance at Connect for Health Colorado until the next open enrollment period unless you have a qualifying life event.
