Universal Security Instruments is recalling about 180 thousand battery-powered smoke alarms because they may not alert people to smoke or a fire.

According to Consumer Reports, the smoke alarms can have a misaligned internal switch causing the alarms to not activate properly.

Universal says it affects model MI3050s manufactured from January 19, 2015 through July 11, 2016.
