A murder suspect will not be getting out of jail anytime soon.

Jonathan Nelson is being charged with first degree murder in the stabbing death of 27-year-old Ashley Melnyczok.

He is being held in jail with no bond.

Police say it may be awhile before any specific details about the alleged murder are released. The Colorado Springs Police Department has asked for the arrest papers to be sealed from the public.

Nelson's public defender asked for those papers from a judge at his video advisement on Friday.

Nelson was arrested Wednesday but the hearing was delayed until Friday because prosecutors say as the investigation moved forward, new evidence was discovered to change the original charge of second-degree murder.

Nelson is now facing charges of first-degree murder, second-degree burglary and vehicular eluding.

Police say even now, they are still more details of the case they need to look into, so they have requested to keep the arrest papers sealed to the public.

Nelson is due back in court in late June.

KKTV will be there and will report any developments in the case.
