COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Care and Share Food Bank is hosting several Mobile Food Pantries for people in need during the holiday season. The first one is Friday. Nov. 30 from 3 to 6 p.m.
Care and Share has received an abundance of food from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). This is nutritious food that Care and Share wants to get out to neighbors in need in a timely manner.
The Mobile Food Pantry will hand out distributions outside of its Colorado Springs facility, located at 2605 Preamble Point, just east of the Powers and Constitution intersection.
This will be a drive-thru style distribution where volunteers will load fresh and frozen food directly into vehicles. It is first come, first served, which means all food could be given out prior to the listed end time.
While it isn’t standard practice for Care and Share to distribute food to individuals and families directly from the distribution center, this will lessen the impact of operations and the transportation fleet.
Care and Share hopes that this food will allow neighbors to have a more enjoyable holiday with family and friends, without having to worry about where their next meal is coming from.
Here are the dates for future mobile food pantries.
-Dec. 14 from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m.
-Jan. 4 from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m.
-Jan. 18 from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m.
