CSPD responds to a fatal motorcycle crash near Austin Bluffs and Woodmen, October 8, 2016.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) The Colorado Springs Police Department responded to a fatal crash involving a motorcyclist and a large Penske moving truck. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead when officers arrived.

It happened just before 9:30 a.m. Saturday near Austin Bluffs Parkway and Woodmen Road.

Police say Austin Bluffs Parkway is closed in both directions at New Car Drive near Woodmen Road, and eastbound Woodmen Road is closed at Havenwood Drive.

The Major Accidents Unit is expected to be on scene for six hours, until around 6 p.m., which after that point, the roads should reopen.

Police tell 11 News the driver of the Penske truck was turning southbound on Austin Bluffs Parkway and struck the motorcyclist heading eastbound on Woodmen Road.

The on-call District Attorney was on scene trying to determine whether or not to press charges for the truck driver.

Police say the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet.
