CSPD: Driver survives crash after large truck crushes car

KKTV

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A crash is causing some major traffic concerns near Platte and Union in Colorado Springs.

11 News Photographer Kelsie Ingram is at the scene and confirmed with police that the driver of the car survived the crash and has non life threatening injuries. The truck driver appears uninjured. The officer on scene called it the "worst crash scene they've seen without fatalities."

From what we can see at the intersection, the crash involves a Toyota Camry and a concrete pumping truck. The car is partially under the truck, window busted out and airbags deployed. It appears the only space that wasn't crushed, was the driver's side.

Meteorologist Jordan Sherman is tracking traffic maps and giving regular updates on closures. See his twitter page below.

The driver of the large truck tells our photographer on scene that he was headed west on Platte when the car tried to turn north onto Union in front of him. The truck driver says his light was green. Police are still investigating who is at fault and how exactly the crash played out.
