Burglars force way into pharmacy, steal tens of thousands in prescription drugs
Burglars forced their way into a medical building early Friday, then helped themselves to prescription drugs.
Police say they targeted the pharmacy, which is tucked away within the building.
An alarm company tipped off an employee just before 3 a.m. Friday, who then called police. The pharmacist told 11 News the suspects wiped shelves clean, stealing between $10-20,000 in drugs such as OxyContin and hydrocodone.
The pharmacist believes the suspects used a crow bar to pry open the door. Police haven't confirmed how the suspects got in, but say it was a forced entry. There are currently no suspect descriptions available.
Detectives are now investigating whether the Friday morning burglary is connected to other burglaries in the city involving suspects breaking into businesses with crow bars or other tools.
The pharmacy and medical building are located off Chapel Hills Drive and Research Parkway.
